All this and more in this week's edition of The Hypha Wire, from Hypha HubSpot Development.
It’s Friday, folks. Welcome back to The Hypha Wire.
Did you know that July is Disability Pride Month? For the last nine years, the occasion has been a month-long event after being moved from a single day, July 26—the day the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law.
It’s important to recognize the month, because an estimated 1.3 billion (1 out of 6) people live with a disability, according to the World Health Organization.
That’s a high number, and there’s a large chance that the 1 in 6 is a friend, coworker, or even yourself. And we always have to remember that not all disabilities are visible.
Our partner InclusionHub—an online resource dedicated to providing information on inclusion awareness—often reports on fostering a positive environment for employees with disabilities.
Here are a few good pieces from their library to utilize (during Disability Pride Month and beyond).

Open Mic: Show Don’t Tell: How to Succeed on Reddit
By Phil Stott, Head of Client Success, Hypha HubSpot Development
Reddit is a goldmine for building a personal brand, yet it often flies under the radar compared to other social media platforms. Its emphasis on genuine interactions and contributions make it a place where your expertise can shine through meaningful engagement, allowing you to cultivate a personal brand that truly stands out.
That’s something that not only builds reputation with actual people, but—as we learned from the recent algorithm leak—may actually help your standing as an expert with Google, leading to better SEO results over the long term.
Here’s how you can leverage Reddit to build your personal brand effectively:
Choose the Right Subreddits: Identify subreddits that align with your expertise and interests. Engage with communities that are relevant to your field, whether it’s marketing, technology, or another niche. This targeted approach ensures that your contributions are seen by the right audience.
Respect the Community Guidelines: Every subreddit has its own rules and guidelines. Adhering to these not only helps in maintaining a positive reputation but also prevents your posts from being removed.
Be Authentic: Redditors value authenticity above all else. Share your experiences, unique insights, and knowledge genuinely. Avoid sounding like a brand or a marketer. Don’t spam subreddits and posts with content and links from your own site. Instead, focus on adding value through meaningful interactions.
Contribute Regularly: Consistency is key. Regular participation helps build your presence and credibility within the community. Answer questions, join discussions, and provide valuable input. Over time, you’ll become a trusted voice in your niche.
Build Relationships: Engage with other Redditors by commenting on their posts and joining conversations. Building relationships within the community can enhance your personal brand and open up opportunities for collaboration.
The bottom line here is to think as an individual within a niche (or series of them) rather than a brand. The beauty of Reddit is that its users self-sort into specific communities around highly niche topics. As a user, it’s important to be as respectful of those communities as you would in, say, a real-life meetup. Most of us wouldn’t go to an industry mixer and talk only about how great our companies are: we’d spend time building rapport, discussing shared issues and pain points, and trying to get a sense of what the people we meet care about. Your approach to Reddit should be exactly the same: don’t tell people you’re an expert. Show them, and the trust—and results—will follow.
Ah, the ebbs and flows of AI. Today SEO is over, tomorrow, there’s hope. This is a good reminder to not let the constant news cycle get to you. The algorithm is ever changing, but traditional SEO is not doomed.
“AI Overviews drop. Google continued to reduce the presence of AI Overviews in June – dropping from 11% to 7% of queries, according to BrightEdge. However, there was also a slight increase in AI Overviews in mid-June before the big drop.
“Why we care. AI Overviews continue to be an area of extreme interest for SEOs, publishers and content creators because the search feature upends the traditional model of Classic Search. Since the arrival of SGE and AI Overviews, there have been huge concerns about Google making it harder or near impossible for some websites to get organic search traffic.”
HR is such an important but oft overlooked function of our day-to-day at work. Employees frequently lack trust in the department, so a sea change in its ethos is much needed and exciting. It’s no surprise that Gen Z is the one to usher this change in.
“'What we’re seeing with Gen Z is a willingness to enter the HR domain, but with the intention of transforming it very significantly,’ said Cliff Jurkiewicz, vp of global strategy and general manager of the customer advisory board at Phenom. ‘Gen Z sees the rise of HR as the most important organization in the entire enterprise because of its net effect on people. Gen Z is saying that’s where I want to be, but not in the traditional HR role. I’m willing to come in through that doorway, but once I’m inside the house, I expect you to listen to me and allow me to make suggestions.’”

Managing contact records for organizations with multiple branches can quickly become a logistical nightmare, leading to disorganized data and inefficiencies.
HubSpot’s standard approach relies on email domains as unique identifiers—grouping all contacts with the same domain together. However, the platform offers powerful customization options, allowing organizations to create solutions that distinguish between different departments or branches within the same organization, preventing confusion.
In our case, we were entrusted with helping a client in the educational technology sector—one contending with contacts from multiple departments in a particular school environment—establish better contact clarity.
Kevin Campbell, Senior Platform Specialist at Hypha HubSpot Development, discusses creating custom-coded workflows to identify different branches within a single company—an elegant solution for companies working with educational systems, retail chains, supermarkets, hotels, and more.
We are a technical services company with a complicated network of partners and industry dynamics. We were looking for an agency that could make sense of our largely broken and illogical website, redesign it, and create intuitive user pathways. Hypha knocked it out of the park. Some things we love about working with Hypha: - Their project management is impeccable - Their communication is consistent, simple, and effective - Design always exceeded expectations - They acted as the owners of the project rather than relying heavily on our team to keep it organized - They’re fun guys! The project was completed on time and on budget - and achieved the intended goal. Can’t ask for much more. We would enthusiastically recommend Dillon, JP, Jeff, and the whole Hypha team to any company looking for web design services.
“In this month’s product update video, we reveal new options for enterprise admins to control feature releases, enhanced encryption for storing sensitive data, and syncing Microsoft Teams webinars with HubSpot. Plus, explore the new filters for HubSpot dashboards and learn about our SMS quiet hours feature. Stay compliant and optimize your marketing efforts with these powerful updates!”
