All this and more in this week’s edition of The Hypha Wire, from Hypha HubSpot Development.
Howdy folks! Another Friday has arrived.
A lot has happened since I last wrote. The social media world is in constant flux. There’s TikTok’s recent near-takedown, a months-long mass exodus from X due to political tensions, and growing skepticism towards Meta platforms highlights the volatile nature of these everyday apps.
Emerging, decentralized alternatives like Bluesky and Mastodon are gaining traction. Bluesky is preparing to launch an Instagram competitor and Tumblr randomly announced a TikTok-like competitor. The rise in alternatives is becoming a challenge for businesses seeking to keep their profiles lively and relevant.
Strategic Considerations:
Followers are migrating between platforms, creating audience uncertainty
Switching platforms carries risks of reduced reach and potential audience alienation
No one-size-fits-all solution exists for social media strategy
Recommended Approach:
Remain adaptable and platform-agnostic
Monitor emerging platforms and user trends
Maintain a presence across multiple channels
Be prepared to pivot quickly as the digital landscape evolves
Here’s what I think: The key is flexibility. Stay informed, be ready to adapt, and don’t put all your digital eggs in one basket!

Poll: Are you exploring new social media platforms like Bluesky or Tumblr TV?

AI is transforming how businesses solve problems, especially when it comes to making sense of complex, messy data. But how do you know when AI is the right fit for your specific challenge?
Here are a few key considerations:
Does the Problem Involve Complex, Multi-Source Data?
One of AI’s biggest strengths is its ability to unify data from different systems, formats, and sources to generate insights and actionable recommendations. If you’re struggling to connect the dots across disconnected datasets, AI can help create a single source of truth and unlock new opportunities.
Is the Problem Too Complex for Manual Solutions?
AI shines in scenarios where human analysis would take too long or be too limited—like identifying patterns, making predictions, or automating decisions at scale. If your challenge requires speed, scale, or advanced analytics, AI might be the right tool.
Do You Have (or Can You Collect) the Right Data?
AI thrives on data. If you already have quality data—or the ability to gather it efficiently—AI can generate incredible value. But if your data is incomplete or unorganized, foundational work may be needed first.
Can AI Drive Tangible Business Outcomes?
AI is most effective when it solves a problem with clear, measurable results, like reducing costs, improving efficiency, or delivering better customer experiences.
Start with a specific goal to ensure AI provides meaningful value. AI has the potential to revolutionize the way you solve business challenges, but the key is knowing when it’s the right solution.

One of the most influential voices in the equality space, Lily Zheng, penned this important piece for Harvard Business Review on “What Comes After DEI.” It’s a must read.
“While backlash to DEI has challenged how many companies and practitioners approach creating more equitable workplaces, fewer have considered whether DEI work itself has room to improve. A new framework, built around the core outcomes of fairness, access, inclusion, and representation (FAIR) that DEI was supposed to achieve for all, offers a new direction. Instead of the performative, individual-centered, isolated, and zero-sum methods of the current mainstream approach, DEI work must evolve to become outcomes-based, systems-focused, coalition-driven, and win-win. And by emphasizing fairness in policies, broad accessibility, inclusive cultures, and trust-based representation, organizations can better address the needs of all employees and create meaningful, lasting change.”
A great feed from The Verge that posts continuous updates about what’s happening in TikTok land. The latest:
“I can’t believe I have to say this. Please don’t buy used phones with TikTok installed. I know it’s hard to pass the time without the FYP, but it’s a massive security and privacy risk. Just scroll on your browser instead.
“It’s not clear whether any of the examples in this New York Times story have actually sold, but eBay is full of listings that apparently have been purchased.”
Hypha Highlights
Ever asked a straightforward question to an AI tool, only to receive a disappointing (or outright wrong) response? Before you dismiss AI as overhyped, consider this: The magic isn’t just in the technology—it’s in how you wield it. Much like the difference between asking a colleague “How’s the project?” versus “What key milestones did we hit this week?”—the art of prompting can transform an AI from a basic chatbot into a powerful collaborator.
In this post, we’ll explore the core components of a well-structured prompt, compare structured prompting with conversational refinement, and show you how to stack these methods for maximum results. Be sure and use our AI Prompt Optimizerat the bottom of the article to test what you’ve learned!

🚨 HubSpotBeta Alert 🚨
Our Senior Platform Specialist, Kevin Campbell is here with a takeover to share some exciting new platform features waiting to be explored:
Update Marketing Contact status across more Workflow Types. Tired of having to build a complex series of workflows JUST to update a Contact’s Marketing Contact status? US TOO. But as of now, we can update that status from ANY workflow type!
In-app Video Thumbnail Editing. Nothing is worse than a bad thumbnail, but now teams can update/edit/choose the best thumbnails for their videos from within HubSpot itself! Keep those nails spiffy people!
Auto-Silence Noisy Notifications. Tired of being bombarded by noisy, yet semi important notifications? Welp, those days will be behind us! Users can now silence these noisy alerts and instead can receive a “roundup” email of notifications they missed!
New List Creation UI. Now, we all love creating Lists, especially with AI! And HubSpot has just released a great new UI that can better guide users to create the proper Lists based on specific Objects and prompts!
Redesigned Notification Center. As great as a ream of notifications is, HubSpot listened to what customers needed, which is a faster way to sort/navigate through their notifications side bar. Welp, the future is here! This new UI will allow users to better navigate through their notifications in style!
To enable any of these betas, log into your HubSpot account, click your profile picture in the top righthand corner, and navigate down to ’Product Updates.’ If you run into any trouble, just give your friends at Hypha a call!
OpenAI has launched its first agent. Called Operator, it:
“Can go to the web to perform tasks for you. Using its own browser, it can look at a webpage and interact with it by typing, clicking, and scrolling. It is currently a research preview, meaning it has limitations and will evolve based on user feedback. Operator is one of our first agents, which are AIs capable of doing work for you independently—you give it a task and it will execute it.”
As stated, it’s only in research preview, so I’m going to refrain from making any immediate judgments or assessments of its capabilities. I encourage you to watch one of the demos and decide for yourself how it will fit into a user’s life.
“Building on her years of wide-ranging reporting on streaming, music journalist Liz Pelly details the consequences of the Spotify model by examining both sides of what the company calls its two-sided marketplace: the listeners who pay with their dollars and data, and the musicians who provide the material powering it all. The music business is notoriously opaque, but here Pelly lifts the veil on major stories like streaming services filling popular playlists with low-cost stock music and the rise of new payola-like practices.”
